Background:
Irrigation supplies are required by various divisions of the Utilities Department for the maintenance and installation of irrigation systems throughout the City. Approval is requested to purchase these supplies from awarded vendors, under the terms of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Bid Event No. 577, with the City of Ft. Lauderdale, as the lead purchasing agency.
The Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group, led by the City of Fort Lauderdale, issued Bid Event No. 577 for the purchase and delivery of irrigation supplies on an as-needed basis and awarded contracts to Rice Pump and Motor Repair, Inc. and SiteOne Landscape Supply, LLC. The bid was structured to award contracts to vendors offering the highest firm, fixed percentage discount off the manufacturer’s list price.
Purchases will be made from the respective vendors on an as-needed basis. As one of the participating Southeast Florida governmental entities for this contract, the City of Sunrise benefits by achieving economies of scale through volume discount pricing. The City of Sunrise has previous experience with both vendors and has been satisfied with the service provided. The initial term of the award is valid through August 27, 2027. This is a one-year award, with four optional one-year renewals.
Since these purchases will be made under an existing governmental contract awarded through a competitive process, the City’s formal bidding procedures are waived pursuant to Section 5-173(c)(4) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunrise.
