Background:
The Residents Leadership Academy (RLA) is an engaging five-session educational program that provides Sunrise residents and business owners with a behind-the-scenes look at City of Sunrise operations, including programs, services, departments, and facilities. The RLA is designed for individuals who wish to learn about local government and take a more active role in their community.
RLA sessions feature hands-on activities, guest speakers - including the Mayor, City Commissioners, and Department Directors - classroom discussions, networking, and informational sessions regarding advisory boards and volunteer opportunities within the city. The City is committed to providing each program participant with a valuable and enriching experience in an effort to create Ambassadors for the City.
The RLA was launched in 2019 and is now celebrating the graduation of Cohort #11, which concluded on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Each graduate will be presented with an award certificate. Congratulations to our Spring 2026 class!
