Background:
The City of Sunrise, Utilities Department, Public Works Division is seeking approval to replace the existing irrigation pump station at Oscar Wind Park through the services of a qualified vendor. The current pump station system, originally installed in 1991, has experienced ongoing operational and maintenance issues due to its age and deteriorating condition. In addition, replacement parts for the existing equipment are no longer readily available, making repairs increasingly difficult and costly. The pump station system has exceeded its useful life expectancy and full replacement is necessary.
The City issued Bid No. 26-45-03-MS for the replacement of the irrigation pump station. Three bids were received on the scheduled opening date and were subsequently reviewed and evaluated by both the Purchasing Office and the Utilities Department. Following the evaluation, staff recommends awarding the bid to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Irrigation Craft, Inc. Irrigation Craft, Inc.’s price is approximately 2.85% lower than the Department’s estimate.
All references were favorable for Irrigation Craft, Inc.’s performance on other projects of similar type and scale with other entities. Staff is requesting approval to award to Irrigation Craft, Inc. Additionally, Irrigation Craft, Inc.’s performance on a previous pump replacement at the City, where they performed as a subcontractor, was also favorable. This item is included in the adopted FY25/26 Budget with adequate funds within the Department's budget.
The City did not receive any responses from a City of Sunrise vendor that could provide this service.
