This item amends the FY 2025/2026 Personnel Summary as follows:

Fire Rescue Department - Community Risk Reduction Division
The Fire Rescue Department - Community Risk Reduction Division is requesting changes to their personnel summary to add one (1) full-time Social Worker position and reclassify one (1) full-time Rescue Lieutenant position to one (1) full-time Firefighter position. 

The addition of a Social Worker position will allow for a position to work directly with Sunrise residents that use the 911 system and individuals who are being referred to the current Fire Rescue Community Paramedic program, for needs such as substance abuse, mental health, adult protective service needs, assisted living, transportation services, medical equipment needs, etc. Funding for this position will be supported by the Florida Department of Health-Broward County Post Overdose Co-Responder Program being presented for approval at the City Commission meeting on April 14, 2026.

The current Rescue Lieutenant classification for the Community Paramedic program limits the pool of candidates who would otherwise be eligible to perform the services within the program due to their requirement to take a promotional exam for the assignment. Reclassifying the Rescue Lieutenant position to a Firefighter position will provide more opportunities for selection due to more certified personnel based for operational and staffing needs.
