Background:
The City of Sunrise Utilities Department, Gas Division requires a qualified vendor to furnish refurbished and remanufactured gas meters, including diaphragm and rotary meter types for use in City’s natural gas distribution system. All meters must meet or exceed applicable American Gas Association standards and be tested, calibrated, and certified prior to delivery.
The City issued Bid No. 26-36-01-HR and electronically posted it on Demandstar, which broadcasted it to the 26 vendors registered under the corresponding commodity codes. The bid opened on March 11, 2026, and three bids were received. Following the evaluation by the Purchasing Office and Utilities Department, it is recommended to award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder Measurement Controls of the Carolinas, LLC (MCC). MCC is offering prices approximately 20% less than the second lowest bidder. Reference checks were performed, and all references were favorable on similar contracts.
The initial contract period shall be for one year, commencing upon City Commission award, with two optional one-year renewals. Pricing for all services under this Bid shall remain firm for the first year, the terms of this solicitation allows an annual price adjustment at time of renewal, not to exceed 5%, in accordance with the Consumer Price Index as promulgated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor.
The City did not receive any responses from a City of Sunrise vendor that could provide this equipment.
