Background:
The City of Sunrise seeks to enhance the hardscape are at the north frontage of Library Square, along Sunset Strip. The City recently completed major improvements to the site, including a new roof installation, exterior painting and stucco repairs, and construction of the Village Arts Plaza to the south, additional site upgrades at the front of Library Square are needed to address existing hardscape, drainage, and landscaping. The proposed improvements will create a more cohesive, accessible, and visually appealing environment that complements recent investments and supports community use of the Library Square facility and surrounding amenities.
This project includes the removal and replacement of deteriorated hardscape elements, installation of a new irrigation system, and implementation of updated landscape design to improve aesthetics, functionality, and stormwater performance. The scope further includes the addition of new site furniture such as benches, trash receptacles, and associated lighting enhancements to improve safety, comfort, and usability of the public space.
Staff negotiated a fee that is fair and reasonable for the scope and complexity of the work with Miller Legg and Associates, and the funds are currently budgeted for this work.
This project agreement is consistent with Item Number 3 in Exhibit ‘A’ Scope of Services of the 2023 Continuing Services Agreement with Miller Legg and Associates for Professional Landscape Architect Services.
