| Background:
The Utilities Department will require the purchase of Sodium Permanganate for raw water iron removal, improving drinking water quality in the City's water treatment plants using a new enhanced process called ion exchange. This new process is being added at all three water treatment plants beginning this year.
The City issued Bid no. 19-30-02-MS and the City received five (5) bids. Staff reviewed the responses and recommends awarding the bid to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Carus Corporation. All references were favorable for Carus Corporation’s performance on similar contracts with other entities. Carus Corporation provided polyphosphates to the City from 2010 through 2014 and its performance was satisfactory.
The City has no history of buying Sodium Permanganate. At this time, there are no similar contracts available via the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchase Cooperative Group.
No Sunrise vendors were solicited because there are no vendors listed in the Business Tax License directory that can perform this type of work.
