| Background:
This item amends the FY 2016/2017 Budget as follows:
General Fund 001
A: The Sunrise Police Department was awarded a grant by the Bureau of Justice Assistance Cooperative Agreement for the implementation of a Body Worn Camera Program in the amount of $250,000. This budget amendment recognizes the appropriation of a portion of the grant funds in the amount of $24,560. These funds will cover the initial cost of hiring a Technical Support Analyst (aka Police Digital Media Evidence Analyst) for the Program. This will be a new regular full-time exempt position added to the Police Department personnel complement for the City and will be funded with General Fund dollars once the grant funding is exhausted. The Grant was originally approved by the City Commission under Resolution #16-156 as part of the October 25, 2016 City Commission Meeting.
A 715-X Amendment and a Personnel Summary Amendment will be forthcoming to add the position to the City's position schedule, pay plan, and budgeted personnel complement.
