The City of Sunrise is seeking a professional consultant with experience in sustainable urban and suburban redevelopment, to develop an improvement master plan for the East Sunrise area to stimulate investment and redevelopment of non-residential areas and to revitalize existing neighborhoods. East Sunrise is a two square mile area that extends east of University Drive (SR 817), including the University Drive corridor, to the municipal boundaries and south from West Oakland Park Boulevard (SR 816) to Sunrise Boulevard (SR 838).  All parcels adjacent to the University Drive corridor are included within the boundaries of the study.  Sunset Strip, a City collector street, is a central spine and focal point for businesses and community services.

The City issued RFQ 15-04-09-MS and three (3) responses were received on March 16, 2016.  Staff evaluated the responses and authorization is required for the Community Development Director, or designee, to negotiate a contract with the number one ranked firm, Redevelopment Management Associates, LLC of Pompano Beach, Florida. All references were favorable for Redevelopment Management Associates, LLC’s performance on other projects of a similar type and scale.  The Contract would be submitted at a later date to the Commission for approval. 

In the event that a successful contract cannot be negotiated with the number one (1) ranked firm, the Community Development Director, or designee, is hereby authorized to negotiate with the number two (2) ranked firm.  If a successful contract cannot be negotiated with the number two (2) ranked firm, the Community Development Director, or designee, is hereby authorized to negotiate with the number three (3) ranked firm.  Should this process fail to produce a satisfactory Agreement, then the City, at its discretion, will either select additional firms from the original Request for Qualifications in the order of their competence or qualification and continue negotiations until an Agreement is reached, or will solicit new Requests for Qualifications.

No Sunrise vendors were solicited as there aren’t any in the Business Tax License Database that supply this service.
