| Background:
The prepaid tuition contracts purchased under this scholarship program provide the funding for sixty (60) credit hours of tuition to attend a Florida college. The City of Sunrise Outstanding Citizenship Scholarships are awarded annually to two (2) City of Sunrise residents who are graduating from a public high school and meet certain income requirements, demonstrating financial need. In addition, applicants are evaluated on their community volunteer service and their academic record. Applications were received from students attending schools throughout Broward County. Applications were reviewed and scholarship recipients were selected. The awarding of these scholarships brings to 31 the total number of students who have received the Outstanding Citizenship Scholarship since the program's inception in 1999. |
