Background:
Wastewater reuse is occurring extensively around the nation, and Florida leads all states in the U.S. with a current average rate of 727 million gallons per day. May 15-21, 2016 is hereby recognized as "Water Reuse Week" by the City of Sunrise, and the reuse of wastewater continues to be one of the most supported and sustainable alternative water resource options available to utilities.
The City of Sunrise joins the South Florida Water Management District in our commitment to the development of sustainable alternative water supplies. The City has already completed one reuse treatment facility at the Southwest Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and has started constructing its second at the Sawgrass WWTP.
