The Fire Rescue Department requires the purchase of new drysuits to equip certified divers assigned to operational deployment, as well as replacements for existing drysuits that have exceeded their useful life. These drysuits are essential to ensure diver safety and effectiveness during underwater search, rescue, and recovery missions.
The City issued Bid No. 26-81-08-ES and posted it on DemandStar, which notified 109 vendors registered under the applicable commodity codes. The bid opened on August 21, 2026, and one submission was received from Dive Rescue International, Inc., which was deemed responsive and responsible.
Pursuant to Section 5-173(d) of the City Code, if fewer than two (2) responsive bids or proposals for commodities or contractual services purchases are received, the department may negotiate on the best terms and conditions. The Purchasing Office negotiated pricing and terms with the vendor due to the receipt of fewer than two responsive bids, resulting in an approximate 11% reduction of pricing, which will be held firm through the end of this calendar year. This will allow for purchases in this fiscal year and any potential needs for next fiscal year, subject to budget approval. The bid price of $38,635.00 includes the option of custom sizing as well as standard sizing providing the variety needed for staff.
Approval of this award will allow the Fire Rescue Department to procure the necessary Hybrid Front Entry Dive Drysuits to support ongoing operational readiness.
The City did not receive any responses from City of Sunrise vendors that could provide this equipment.
