The Police Department has identified the need to replace an existing solar-powered message trailer that has been in service for approximately ten years and has exceeded its useful life. These message trailers are essential tools used for community notifications. The requested new message trailer, Silent Messenger II (SolarTech), Model 122-3048, features modern technology, is double sided, and is mounted on a lift and rotate trailer, making it easily transportable.
The Purchasing Office advertised Bid No. 26-72-07-MF for a Solar Powered Double Sided Message Trailer, Silent Messenger II (SolarTech), Model 122-3048, with required options, manufactured by Solar Technology, Inc. or approved equal. The bid opened on August 10, 2026, and two bids were received.
After reviewing the bid submittals, the Police Department and the Purchasing Office recommend awarding the bid to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Safety Zone Holdings, Inc dba Safety Zone Specialists, in the total amount of $50,136.95. Based on the submittals received, pricing is deemed fair and reasonable. Funding for this replacement was budgeted in the Police Department's FY 2026 Budget.
It is requested that the City Commission approve the award to Safety Zone Holdings, Inc to allow for the procurement of the message trailer.
The City did not receive any responses from a City of Sunrise vendor that could provide this equipment.
