| Background:
In accordance with the Florida State Statute 932.7055(5)(a)(b), pertaining to Confiscation/Forfeiture Funds, law enforcement agencies are required to expend or donate no less than 25% of revenues received through confiscation and forfeiture proceedings for various community law enforcement programs. Recommended donations are as follows:
- Kiwanis Club of Sawgrass $ 5,000.00
- Women in Distress $ 4,000.00
- Broward Victim's Rights Coalition $ 4,500.00
- Crime Stoppers $ 5,000.00
- A Child is Missing $ 3,000.00
- 2-1-1 $ 3,500.00
- TOTAL = $25,000.00
All expenditure requests from the State Confiscation/Forfeiture Fund must be made by the Chief of Police to the City Commission, the City's governing body. A written certification from the Chief of Police, verifying that the request complies with the provisions of the Confiscation/Forfeitures statute, must accompany the expenditure request and is attached to this Agenda item.
It is requested that the City Commission approve these donations from the Police Department State Confiscation and Forfeiture Fund (196) in the combined amount of $25,000.00 |
