Background:

Staff is requesting approval to engage The Howard E Nyhart Company, Incorporated, an independent actuary on an as-needed basis to perform actuarial services, financial analyses and consulting for various City initiatives and projects. These services are necessary to ensure the City has access to accurate, unbiased actuarial expertise when evaluating City services, benefits, and long-term financial obligations. Hiring an external actuary will allow the City to obtain timely, specialized analyses that support informed decision-making.

Since this purchase will be made using the financial advisor services exemption, the City's formal bidding procedures are waived pursuant to Section 5-173(c)(6) of the Code of the City of Sunrise, Florida. City Commission approval is requested to engage the services of The Howard E Nyhart Company, Incorporated, on an an needed basis, not to exceed budgeted funds.
