Background:
The areas along NW 60th Terrace/NW 60th Avenue between NW 24th Street and West Oakland Park Boulevard require improvements to address parking, accessibility, and infrastructure for bulk trash collection, as residents in the area currently lack a designated location for bulk waste placement.
To address these items, the City developed the NW 60th Terrace/NW 60th Avenue Improvements capital improvement project to design and construct various improvements along and adjacent to NW 60th Terrace/NW 60th Avenue between NW 24th Street and West Oakland Park Boulevard. Proposed improvements include the installation of protective timber barriers, swale improvements along the east side of the roadway, installation of enclosed concrete bulk debris collection pads at the end of residential cul-de-sacs, installation of parallel parking along the north side of NW 24th Street, various accessibility improvements, installation of landscaping, and video monitoring. A portion of the proposed project is located within the Sunrise Town Preferred common area and the City will need to obtain temporary construction easements to fully complete this work. Staff has had initial meetings with the HOA and the HOA has expressed support for the City's proposed project.
To complete the NW 60th Terrace/NW 60th Avenue Improvements project, the Utilities Department developed Project Agreement PA-26-002-CT with Craven, Thompson and Associates, Inc (CTA), one of the City’s Landscape Architectural Continuing Services Consultants for design, permitting services, and bidding services for the proposed improvements. CTA is capable of performing these services based on their experience and availability. Utilities staff has negotiated a fee with CTA that is fair and reasonable for the scope and complexity of the project.
This work is included within the City’s Five-Year Capital Improvement Program and described within Item 45 of Exhibit "A" within the Continuing Service Agreement.
