The 2025 legislative session amended Section 177, Part 1 of the Florida Statutes to incorporate Section 177.071. Section 177, Part 1 of the Florida Statutes governs platting for new plats, replats, and amendments to plat notes and non-vehicular access lines. This new section of state law, effective July 1, 2025, requires a municipality to designate, by ordinance or resolution, an administrative authority to receive, review, and process a plat or replat submitted, as well as approve, approve with conditions, or deny a proposed plat or replat. As prescribed by Section 177.071, Florida Statutes, an administrative authority means a department or division and further requires an administrative officer or employee be designated for the purposes of issuing final administrative approvals of plat or replats.

The attached resolution designates the Community Development Department as the administrative authority for the purposes of Section 177.071, Florida Statutes, that will receive, review, and process plats, replats, and amendments to plat notes and non-vehicular access lines. This resolution further designates the Director of Community Development as the administrative employee to issue final administrative approval, approval with conditions, or denial of a proposed plats, replats, and amendments to plat notes and non-vehicular access lines. The proposed resolution shall supersede all City Codes that are in conflict.
