| Background:
This is an application for a Uniform Signage Plan for the Caroline at Sunrise multi-family development. Section 16-264 of the Land Development Code allows “uniform signage plans for certain developments and geographical areas in the City which, due to their nature, make it desirable to create a uniform signage plan governing special features, design characteristics, size, location and number of signs.”
Proposed signage in the Uniform Signage Plan includes:
- Two (2) 78 square-foot illuminated development identification ground signs, one at each of the two (2) development entrances (one on the main entrance/exit to the development, off Oakland Park Boulevard, and another one on the resident-only entrance/exit, off Pine Island Road).
- Fourteen (14) five (5) foot-tall directional signs, one for each of the individual residential buildings within the development.
- Two (2) five (5) foot-tall directory signs providing the overall map of the property, one at each of the two (2) development entrances.
- One (1) building sign identifying the location of the leasing offices.
- Various types of signage that identify and regulate gate access, individual building addresses, individual unit numbers, parking space designations, fire-rescue-related features, and rules for the pool, grill, dog park, and tot lot amenity areas.
The signs included in the proposed plan require separate building permits.
Staff completed an open building permit and code violation search. There are no City code nor Building code violations. There are multiple open building permits.
Staff finds this application meets all applicable Land Development Code requirements for approval of the Uniform Signage Plan. Therefore, staff recommends approval of this application.
