Background:

The Utilities Department Fleet Services Section is responsible for overseeing the outfitting of the City's fleet of vehicles and equipment with required municipal vehicle equipment (lighting and accessories). Authorization is requested to utilize the City of Miami Bid No. 1301386 for the purchase and installation of items, as needed, from Public Safety Supply, LLC.

Federal Signal products are included as part of this award and they are the preferred product vendor of the City of Sunrise. Under this award, the warranty on lighting is seven years (inclusive of parts and labor), as compared to a standard five-year warranty offered for similar products. This bid includes a 47% discount off the list price for Federal Signal products. The previous City of Miami bid included only a 45% discount off all Federal Signal products.

The initial term of the award is for three (3) years, with the option to renew for one (1) additional two (2) year period.

Utilizing this bid offers very competitive pricing for the City's preferred product vendor and additional flexibility in outfitting fleet vehicles as required. Staff verified there are no firms within the City of Sunrise that are authorized to provide, service, and/or install municipal vehicle equipment. Staff recommends award to only one of the three (3) firms awarded by City of Miami: Public Safety Supply, LLC.

Because these purchases will be made using an existing governmental contract, the City's formal bidding procedures are waived pursuant to Section 5-173(c)(4) of the Code of the City of Sunrise, Florida.
