Background:

The City Commission has maintained the existing property tax rate of 6.0543 mills for the last 13 consecutive years and it is recommended to once again, hold the line on the property taxes for the City Budget by maintaining the millage rate at 6.0543 mills.

This agenda item will serve to set the maximum millage rate for the FY 2022/2023 Budget and once the proposed millage rate is approved by the Commission and submitted to the Property Appraiser's Office, the millage rate cannot be increased.  The gross taxable value of the property in the City of Sunrise for FY 2022/2023, as of July 1, 2022, is $9,375,933,382, including new construction, additions, rehabs, etc. of $26,901,120.  The rolled-back rate is 5.5267 mills.  The first public hearing on the budget will be Monday, September 12, 2022 at 5:05 p.m. in the City Hall Commission Chamber, located at 10770 West Oakland Park Boulevard, Sunrise, FL 33351.

The resolution also sets the proposed voter approved debt service millage levy of 0.3787 mills to fund the FY 2022/2023 debt service for the General Obligation (GO) Bonds of the City of Sunrise.  The date and time of the public hearing will be the same as the first public hearing on the City budget.

It is requested that the City Commission approve the resolution to set the millage rates and public hearings for the FY 2022/203 Budget.
