Background:
Broward County, through its Integrated Water Resources Plan (IWRP) partnership approved awarding the City of Sunrise a $150,000 grant for the engineering design services for the Sawgrass Reuse Distribution System. This IWRP grant program was developed in partnership with municipal leaders, water managers, utility directors and other stakeholders for the advancement of alternate water supply resources and development of diversified sources to reduce stress on strained regional water resources.
This grant will help defray the City's expenses toward development of alternate water supplies for its reuse distribution system expansion. The system to be constructed will include piping extensions within the Sawgrass International Corporate Park, from the Sawgrass Wastewater Reuse treatment plant to several existing businesses and include a connection to the existing 36-inch diameter transfer line between Springtree and Sawgrass WWTPs, eventually making irrigational reuse available to several large use sites between these facilities such as Metropica and American Express.
