Background:
The work that is being performed within this contract includes, but is not limited to, the replacement of water main infrastructure, including about 32,000 lineal feet of water mains and services, valves, and fire hydrants in the area from NW 58 Terrace to NW 64 Avenue, and from Sunrise Boulevard and NW 19 Street. The project also includes roadway construction along NW 63rd Avenue between Sunrise Boulevard and NW 11th Street to establish it as a two-way road and minor drainage improvements at spot locations within the project limits. All of the affected roadways will be milled and resurfaced and receive new pavement markings.
Bid No. 16-38-06-AP was advertised with 40 firms requesting the documents, and five (5) responses were received. The Purchasing Division and the Utilities Department have reviewed the responses and recommend awarding a contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Acosta Tractor, Inc. of Hialeah Gardens, Florida. All references were favorable for Acosta Tractor, Inc. in reference to performance on other projects of a similar type and scale.
No Sunrise vendors were solicited as there aren’t any in the Business Tax License Database that supply this service. This construction contract is included within the City's 5 year water and wastewater capital improvement program.
